...but I don't want to

Lord, You're telling me that You're enough.
And each time I reply, "Are You sure?"
God, You tell me to please You alone.
So why do I fear my parents instead?

When I fail to follow, when I have joy in my heart, when I doubt Your truth, when I proclaim Your salvation, when my heart hardens, when I walk away from Your light...
still You call me..You're always calling me. closer and closer.
"Child, come near, come home. Your Father loves you. He forgives you."

"Sing to the Lord, praise His name, proclaim His salvation day after day." Psalm 96:2
God, I confess that I cease to proclaim salvation enough. Lord, where is my joy? If it truly is in You then why have I stopped singing? You haven't gone so where is my singing? Why am I silent? If my songs of praise are truly of Your grace, then I guess this is the song that never ends. Lord, the song of who You are--never ending.

Remind my fickle heart of Your blessings present, past, and promised in the future. Remind me that I am because You are. Remind me that I live because You loved. Remind me that You alone are Lord over all and that means my life, especially.

Lord, make me a God pleaser not a parent pleaser or a people pleaser. So often I confuse loving with pleasing and gaining approval, but God you know and you teach that love isn't always hearts and smiley faces. Love is painful. Love is speaking the truth to those who don't know You and risking everything so they will at least have had the opportunity to accept Christ into their hearts. Love is sacrifice. Love is everything that we aren't and that You are. God only through You do we love. All good flows from the blood of Your son, Jesus Christ.
