How are things going with you?
Things are good. Everything is going according to his plan.
His plan?
Yeah, God's. Who else?
Conversations about future plans often start with "Well, if things go according to plan..." or "Well, I'm hoping that things will work out how I planned..." Wow! Who are we to say these things? We don't realize that we have NO CLUE what is best for ourselves or anyone. Only God, guys..only God.
He is in control. We are not as much as we try (and we try a lot).
His will and his ways are always established.
30 There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan
that can succeed against the LORD.
31 The horse is made ready for the day of battle,
but victory rests with the LORD.
Proverbs 21:30-31
So when anyone asks, "How are things going?"
We can always say, "According to plan."
And when we doubt this, and feel as though things are going wrong or aren't as they should be, we should ask ourselves whose will we are seeking?

outside of the seminary mail room is the receptionist to the "Kim Wing," the school of cultural communication, or international studies, or missions, or whatever. the receptionist puts a different quote on the desk every day. Today's is of the source "unknown," and it says
Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, but learning how to dance in the rain.
i thought that was fitting.
